What is La Casa?
La Casa Misericordia Y de Todas Las Naciones provides a safe and dignified space for women and families experiencing vulnerable circumstances as they seek a better life.
La Casa is a migrant shelter that has been recognized by national organizations as a model for safety, mental health, nutrition, and sustainability. It’s a community of displaced, vulnerable people, who have fled to escape violence living communally on a five acre property. Everyone has a stake in the community and works on teams to keep La Casa running.

Daily Meals
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided for all residents, 7 days a week.

Relational Action
Cruzando Fronteras believes that meaningful change happens through authentic relationships built across borders. We accompany migrants and shelter staff at La Casa through regular visits, shared meals, and ongoing presence. Our volunteers cross the border not just to deliver aid, but to listen, learn, and stand in solidarity with families navigating difficult journeys. By fostering these connections, we create a community of mutual support that honors the dignity and resilience of every person.
Humanitarian Advocacy
We work to amplify the voices and experiences of migrants in the Sonora-Arizona corridor, advocating for compassion and justice. Through our partnership with La Casa, we witness firsthand the challenges facing displaced families and use these insights to educate faith communities and the broader public about the realities of migration. Our advocacy is grounded in the belief that all people deserve safety, dignity, and fair treatment.
Development Support
Cruzando Fronteras provides sustained resources that help La Casa offer comprehensive care to our migrating neighbors during their stay in Nogales. We support programs that address immediate needs—food, shelter, clothing, and medical care—while also investing in educational activities, mental health services, and recreational opportunities that nurture hope and resilience. Through the generosity of our donors, we ensure that families receive holistic support that honors their humanity and helps them prepare for their next steps with dignity.
